Complications from Infection
Healthy bodies build resistance.
HyOx prescribes hyperbaric oxygen therapy to hinder the spread of soft tissue and bone infections by supersaturating the plasma with oxygen and boosting the power of antibiotics. For these covered bacterial infections and infectious diseases needing immediate intervention to hasten results avoiding possible limb and life-threatening events, hyperbaric medicine heals by increasing blood flow which reduces inflammation, flushes toxins out of the body, and strengthens infection-fighting white blood cells to slow the spread and build resistance to infection.
HyOx treats the following approved and covered infection-related complications:
Gas Gangrene - Slows/stops the progression of tissue and muscle death in this fast-spreading disease occurring from a lack of blood flow or a bacterial infection.
Intracranial Abscess - An infection and chronic disease mainly of the face and neck caused by effects of trauma, surgery or another infection characterized by abscess formation (collections of pus), tissue damage and draining sinuses causing tracks in the skin.
Necrotizing Soft Tissue Infections - Most commonly treated is necrotizing fasciitis, “necrotizing” signifies the death of most or all of the cells in an organ or tissue due to disease, injury or failure of the blood supply. A necrotizing infection causes patches of tissue to die as a result of bacteria invading the skin or the tissues under the skin.
Osteomyelitis (Refractory) - The inflammatory bone disease / bacterial infection is first treated with surgical and antibiotic therapy (usually a four-to-six-week course). After six weeks the condition is considered chronic refractory osteomyelitis and triggers candidacy for adjunctive hyperbaric oxygen therapy
