Soft Tissue Necrotizing Infection — Right Leg

This 86-year-old, active male, sustained a one-month progressive right leg ulcer from a scratch. The wound began to deteriorate and he was seen by a vascular surgeon for wound debridement’s and an infectious disease specialist. The patient began intravenous and oral antibiotics with close wound monitoring. The patient’s wound progressed with separation of dermal and subcutaneous fat layers, along with interior tracking into deep muscular layers. The patient was referred to HyOx Medical Treatment Center for hyperbaric oxygen therapy and participated in 60 treatments.

Result: Healing – wound closed. Infection resolved.
