CASE STUDY

Chronic Osteomyelitis – Right Ankle

Before

After

This 56-year-old diabetic female was referred to HyOx Medical Treatment Center for hyperbaric oxygen therapy for chronic osteomyelitis in her right medial malleolar (ankle) region. The patient suffered severe gasoline burns on the lower half of her body in 1972 and has undergone multiple skin grafts over the years. The Wagner Grade 3 wound/bone infection was treated with 60 hyperbaric oxygen therapy sessions (two pre-op and 58 post-op).

Result: Her bone pain subsided and the chronic osteomyelitis and failed donor graft wound site were resolved.
