Chronic Osteomyelitis – Right Foot

The patient, an 87-year-old white female with diabetes, was presented to HyOx with peripheral vascular disease and amputation of the 3rd and 4th toe of the right foot.  The patient related that her trouble started in September 2004 when she clipped her toenails. After that time, she had continued difficulty with healing of the distal toes.  The patient received 40 hyperbaric treatments Fall 2005.  She returned to HyOx to receive 60 treatments over 91 days.  End Result:  The patient’s wounds healed over.  She did well with the treatments and was transferring somewhat better.  She was more cognitive and alert and able to tolerate more activities at home.  She was not complaining of any more pain in this area.
